Tischler Reisen is a family business based in Bavaria since 1976, which organizes individual long-distance trips tailored to the wishes of its customers. The old website had long since ceased to reflect the company's motto of "the personal way of traveling" with 30 long-haul destinations in Asia, the Middle East, Morocco and the Indian subcontinent. The customers should be able to select the hand-picked program with components from high-quality round trips, hotels and excursions by means of a modern and clear navigation. For consultation, they should be able to look for a travel agency in their proximity. This successful website relaunch was realized by W4 in just nine months, from kick-off to go-live.
The customer requested a modern and functional website with a responsive web design for mobile devices that would allow visitors to plan their individual trips in a visually appealing and clearly arranged manner. Therefore, the company's backend systems were to be integrated with the website in the sense of a service-oriented architecture (SOA), which developed into a constantly changing task for the W4 project team in the course of the project. At the same time, the customer was adapting its complex data structure as part of an internal system change, so that the agile working method with SCRUM has proven its worth once again. Even the revised travel agency finder, which had not been solved very efficiently before, offers visitors added value after the website relaunch.
The old website was not only optically outdated, but also no longer met the desired functional requirements. The site was not optimized for mobile devices and there was no interface for an internally integrated travel agency database to retrieve current travel offers. Using an interface between the internal travel planning system Tourbase and Google Firestore, which is one of the data sources, the website is filled with current content on a daily basis. Thus, the Tischler website is now also interesting for end consumers, as it offers the latest deals every day.
React is used as the frontend technology. The static content of the new website is based on wordpress.com, which is used as a headless CMS, while the tours are imported from the internal tour management program and the Tourbase system. For newsletters and lead generation via forms, HubSpot was integrated as the CRM system. The shipping service SendGrid is used for proposal requests. Image data management is carried out via cloudinary.com, a personalized image database that optimizes customer images for end devices.
For the customized travel agency finder, the data is imported using Google Sheets and the geographical data is automatically generated for a zip code search. Visitors can conveniently click on the pins on a map and call up the contact data of the desired travel agency.
A modern website that meets today's user requirements includes interactive elements. Reactjs.org enables the development of such components, with fast access and updates. The focus of our developers, besides functionality, was mainly on the appealing design of the UI (user interface) components.
After implementation, the elements can be used again and again and adapted as needed. This saves valuable resources. Due to the focus on components, the entire application does not have to be checked immediately when changes are made. Reactjs.org thus offers enormous flexibility.
The web presence of tischler-reisen.de gives visitors valuable impressions of their travel options via high-quality images. One could assume that the many pictures increase the loading times of the web pages enormously. Not with cloudinary.com. The cloud-based image and video management system Cloudinary allows central editing and management of files in the cloud. The files are made available via a Content Delivery Network (CDN), which means they are available quickly.
The loading speed of the Tischer Reisen website is therefore excellent. The plug-in developed by W4 outputs the files automatically. All images are automatically optimized for the various (mobile) output devices - a must in view of the enormous increase in website access via mobile devices.
Using agile project management based on the SCRUM framework, W4 discussed the current status of the project with the customer, set up sprints and discussed customization requests. This allowed W4 to react flexibly to various requirements and challenges and to constantly optimize workflows. In this way, W4 was able to implement the project in an agile manner with the customer in nine months.
